Polk County Area Go Texan Committee

Our History.

The Polk County Area Go Texan Committee serves as a deep-rooted connection between the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Polk County. The committee is focused on promoting not only the show but also supporting the County’s youth in agriculture.

Each year, Polk County Area Go Texan Scholarships are awarded to qualified, outstanding students representing our county.

Collectively, the Polk County committee has raised more than $900,000 in scholarship funds through the years for area youth seeking higher education. Through annual events, such as the committee’s golf tournament and steak dinner, thousands of dollars are raised for local students each year.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HSLR) is the umbrella organization that presides over each Area Go Texan committee across the state.

*Polk County Go Texan, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with an active Board of Directors. We are chartered as a charitable organization and our bylaws emphasize scholarships.
